Oceans Away

Shane Wallace starred as a local celebrity in this week's 'Canning Examiner'. A very flattering photo and article featured prominently on the front page and was continued on page 3. Shane is aiming to swim the Rottnest Channel Swim on 21 February as part of a duo. We wish Shane and his swimming partner all the best for the upcoming swim.

A Toe in the Water

Libby Trickett, Grant Hackett, Ian Thorpe and Stephanie Rice are all names synonymous with Australian champion swimmers. While we can't all aim to achieve Olympic greatness as they have done, we can all aim to achieve our own level of masters swimming greatness in an environment of 'Fitness, Friendship and Fun'.

Masters Swimming WA (formerly AUSSI) was established in 1977, is affiliated with Masters Swimming Australia, and is part of the worldwide Masters Swimming movement. There are over 1200 swimmers, ranging in age from 20 to 95, who are members of 31 masters swimming clubs throughout this state.

Masters Swimming WA advocates the lifestyle benefits - both health and social - that swimming has to those people who involve themselves in masters club swimming. Riverton AUSSI Masters Swimming Club seeks to endorse those benefits to its members. It involves itself in a variety of activities and events as well as offering activities of its own to encompass the needs and interests of as many of its members as possible. Members are strongly encouraged to 'do as much as they can or as little as they wish'.
