The most recent event on the club's social calendar was held at the Leisureplex on the evening of Monday 30 March following training.
After a strenuous workout in the pool under the ever watchful eyes of Coach Caris, all appetites were primed to enjoy another barbecue. The weather was perfect, the company was great and the food was nothing less than outstanding. It was a fabulous evening that saw the club's largest barbecue attendance for quite a while.
Many thanks to Lea Munyard for organising the barbecue and to the other members of the social committee who helped make the event run smoothly.
A movie of the evening can be found here:

No News is Good News (but being in the news is even better!)
The Canning Examiner continues to advertise the club's operations in its 'Local Diary' noticeboard. This week in the issue dated 27 February, Graeme's article appears on page 8.
Newman Churchlands BACC Carnival - REPORT
Ladies and Gentleman,
The day dawned bright and clear as i checked my mobile there was a message from Shane "McElroy" Wallace saying that he had to trim his nose hairs and would unfortunately not make the carnival. I contemplated this message and concluded that there would be a fair amount of nasal hair to remove so the job could take some time, also having reefed out a few hairs of my own, thus bringing tears to my eyes reasoned that a more measured approach would be the way to go.
So a quick kiss for the all the family (even the dog!) and before i knew it i was pulling into the car park at Newman College, all ready to go !
There was some excellent swimming by all the team so because i am a lazy typist and love bullet points here is the GOOD, BAD and UGLY

GOOD
- Having 10 Mighty Redbacks turn up and compete
- Finishing 6th in Overall point score. Top 5 places were filled by MUCH bigger clubs.
- Our whole women's team - Leanne, Lea, Hilliary, Barbara and Malira all swum VERY well
- Steve-O on time and on budget !
- GP cranking out 3 swims in row on what I would call a "Solid Preparation"
- Rob "YingFa" Weir surviving the 100m Fly with a 1.15 very snazzy
- Pauly who i entered for 60 secs in 50 free...made me look like an idiot and cranked out 40.39 top shelf !
- All results can be found here - http://www.mastersswimmingwa.asn.au/events-pool.htm
BAD
- Rob competing in the 100 Breast - Tch Tch
- Malira and her relationship with Wild Turkey - Tch Tch
- Shane and his nose hair problem - Tch Tch
- Lea and her chocolate obsession - Tch Tch (a bit harsh maybe !)
- My 100 Fly turn - Tch Tch
- Pauly's choice of footwear - Tch Tch
- The starting blocks - Tch Tch
- Me not packing any food - Tch Tch
UGLY
- For the first time in AGES we have a standout winner of this award....I could build the suspense with a long winded story, however, let me tell everybody that Rob now has a new nickname Rob "Premature" Weir. This is what happens when you false start in a relay and the whole team gets DQ !!! There was ONE saving grace. Pauly and I went straight for the BBQ and missed the rush. Sooooo THANK YOU ROB !
Right the next BACC is at Melville on the 5th April - More details to follow VERY shortly
